Last night, members of the RGS Consultants team had the privilege of attending the 2025 BC Embodied Carbon Awards, an event that brought together architects, engineers, policymakers, and sustainability professionals from across the province to celebrate leadership in low-carbon design and construction.
Hosted in Vancouver, this year’s awards ceremony was a powerful reminder of the innovation and collaboration driving real progress toward a decarbonized built environment. From advanced material strategies to policy-aligned development frameworks, the projects recognized last night represent some of the most forward-thinking work happening in Canada today.
Why Embodied Carbon Matters
At RGS Consultants, we know that addressing operational carbon is no longer enough. Embodied carbon—emissions associated with materials and construction processes—can account for over half of a building’s total carbon footprint over its lifecycle. These awards shine a spotlight on the individuals and organizations leading the charge to reduce those emissions and rethink how we design, specify, and build.
A Community of Changemakers
We were thrilled to connect with so many peers and partners committed to pushing the boundaries of sustainable design. It was especially inspiring to see the range of projects recognized—from public infrastructure and institutional buildings to affordable housing and private-sector developments. These efforts are a testament to what’s possible when cross-disciplinary teams align on shared sustainability goals.
Congratulations to the 2025 Winners
To all of this year’s winners and nominees: congratulations. Your work is setting a new standard for climate leadership in the building industry. Through innovation, rigor, and a shared sense of urgency, you are creating not only better buildings but a better future.
Our Commitment
At RGS Consultants, we’re honored to be part of this evolving conversation and to support our clients in taking bold steps toward low-carbon, high-performance outcomes. Events like the BC Embodied Carbon Awards reinforce our belief that collaboration, transparency, and continuous learning are key to accelerating change.
We look forward to building on the momentum of last night and continuing to support projects that lead with purpose and integrity.
